About The Area

The cottage is excellently located close to the Umbria/Tuscany border, making both regions easily accessible. Moiano is 86 miles (138km) from Rome. The location offers tranquility, being surrounded by woodlands, olive groves and sunflower fields. For local shops, Moiano is just a couple of minutes (1km) away while the train station at Chiusi is 5km away giving you rail access to many ancient Italian cities such as Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence Pisa and Milan
We are happy to provide a list of the festivals, many with ancient origins and some with food and entertainment; often the participants are in medieval costumes.
With in the area there are many sports activities including: swimming, fishing, hiking, trekking, horse-back riding, mountain biking, golf, and boating, all within easy reach.

One can swim in any of the many beaches around Lake Trasimeno (10 kilometers from the cottage). The lake holds a European blue banner for clean and safe bathing. Around its perimeter are nature trails, cycling tracks and a number of discrete man made beaches with bars and restaurants. A ferryboat takes you across to two of the three islands on the lake from the pier; this is an adventurous fun day out.
Also try the Open Air Pool and Water Slides at the Tavernelle complex (8km away) open May thru September.
